My Former Late Hogan Pivot Pt II – DTL View

I have a driver swing shown down the line, again with the Late Hogan Pivot I was performing back in the summer of 2022, and it will look slightly different from this angle when I get new video, I’m predicting.

The differences will probably manifest, from the work I’ve been doing on this model, in a more vertical arm position in the setup and a flatter leading arm plane at the top of the back pivot.

Why I Left The Mike Austin School Of Swing (The Model)

Those of you who were around between 2009-13 will remember that I left the Mike Austin school of golf swing around early 2013 after deciding that my golf swing wasn’t working the way I wanted it to, and that I had grown disenchanted with the notion that Austin was infallible and had the “perfect” golf swing model.

I like to question things, always have, and I have never accepted “you’re not allowed to question this” as a valid answer to a question.

The Definition Of Stability – Progression Of Models

In going over the Post-Modern Golf Swing pivot and swing action, it suddenly dawned on me what should be or perhaps should have been obvious with regards to stability and machine-like performance.

The Classic Golf Swing, for example, is mechanically-correct and sound, because the body is moving the way it is designed to move when swinging from a certain setup.

The Three Pivots Of The MCS Golf Swing

I was talking last week about the 3 pivot actions I’ve isolated, all of them related by having different hip and leg actions because of the subtle differences in setup and balance.

They all feature the “Leaning A” setup but it varies to produce the 3 different pivot types, but the variations are just the 3 major ones in a sequence of pivots from the traditional Classic Golf Swing (the first) to the 3rd, the “adjusted” Mike Dunaway type of pivot.

The Fundamentals Of A Proper & Mechanically Sound Golf Swing

There are of course a million different ways in which someone can swing a golf club, but the focus on this blog has been on building a mechanically-correct and proper golf swing.

Even here however, as you can see with my exploration on different pivot actions over the years, there are variations you will find in swinging in a mechanically-correct manner.

We’re At A Crossroads, WAX Nation – Whither Next?

I have said for years that there were two different mechanically-correct pivot actions – the traditional Classic Golf Swing with the rotary hip turn and lifting leading heel, and the second, what I am now calling the “Shift & Post” based upon having called it that when talking about Mike Dunaway.

Now that I have isolated and can replicate and explain the “Shift &  Post” pivot action, I am wondering where we go from here.

I Solved The Hogan Pivot Mystery With The Pivot Drill

I am working diligently on my shoulder rehabbing, because I am behind you – those of you who have downloaded the “Basics Of The MCS Golf Swing” video are ahead of me.

Ahead in what?

In creating that perfect combination of a Jack Nicklaus-type grip with the MCS setup and Ben Hogan’s last silky pivot action that mesmerized the world when he won 3 majors in 1953.

Let’s go over the history of this evolution in the MCS Golf Swing.

Golf Digest Discovers That Grass Is Green (And The Modern Golf Swing Is Bad For Backs)

Update: I’ve edited this after mistakenly attributing Dr. Lafontaine’s statements to Michael Bamberger.  Fixed.

File this under “Are you kidding me?”

Michael Bamberger has apparently caught on to the fact that the Modern Golf Swing is bad for one’s back.  I’m shocked – shocked that there’s gambling going on in here…

I’m happy that someone is finally taking notice.  I mean, it’s only been 7 years since I posted on the shocking discovery based on scientific analysis.

Rory McIlroy Is 36 Years Old (Back Injury)

I wasn’t aware of this development until The Welshman sent me a message about it yesterday, but my response to him was, “it was only a matter of time, the way he twists his lower back…”

That development was a long-expected one for me, because even while Rory McIlroy has at times embraced the notion of not nailing his leading foot down on the back pivot, he has always insisted on twisting his lower back like a pretzel, and that was never going to end well, unfortunately.

Can You See The “Swing Point” or “Fulcrum?”

It is counter-intuitive to think, if you’re not used to the concept, that you swing from something other than your arms, but that is reality.

The arms are the only links to the club, of course, but they arms are swinging from the shoulders, and the mid-point of the shoulders is really the point around which the swing turns.
