Well, I had just told Mr. McJohn in a comment yesterday not to hold his breath on any major golf publications or channels discussing the results of the so-called “X-Factor” studywe read about in the BBC…
To make it short and sweet, modern equipment hasn’t helped the average golfer drive it longer – in fact, the average drive distance of the average golfer has fallen from 2015 to 2018 (and I can’t believe how short the average golfer drives stats, to be honest).
I stumbled across this piece on GolfDigest’s website and actually found the same video on their Youtube page – you have to watch this.
It is essentially a 6 minute advertisement for the TaylorMade M3 driver (you’ll see that at the end if you watch the entire clip), although I don’t know how anyone can sell a driver based on Tiger Woods‘ driving performance since his return.

I just read a posting by Golf Digest’s Matthew Rudyon how to “Hit Justin Thomas’ Jump Drive For More Power,” and I’m still trying to figure out how he can tell people to do that, but then say not to try to do what Justin Thomas is actually doing… or you’ll hurt yourself.
Kudos to Mr. Rudy as well for using that tried-and-true non sequitur that for power, he tells us, “Thomas uses the ground to produce maximum clubhead speed…”
