Tiger Woods Is Still So Good…

He literally shot -1 on one leg on Thursday and don’t let the +2 round yesterday fool you – after not playing in a Tour event in a year and a half, another back surgery and a shattered right leg, the man has scored better than all but 18 players thus far.

Granted it’s Augusta National where he could play blind-folded in the dark, but come on.

Wow – I’m Shocked (Not Really) By Bryson’s Injuries

Spoiler alert, no, I’m not shocked that Bryson DeChambeau’s injury WD in the Saudi event a few weeks ago wasn’t actually caused by a slip and fall while playing Ping Pong.

That was a ridiculous assertion considering his string of WD’s with injuries before the Saudi event, but I’d imagine BDC didn’t want to admit accepting appearance money while not fit to actually play.

Hogan’s Perfect Pivot

I called Ben Hogan’s pivot action the Perfect Pivot back in 2014 for a reason – that it absolutely was.

In fact, the only thing preventing me from making Hogan the model for the MCS Golf Swing rather than just the pivot action comes down to one thing he did.

This Is Special – And Completely Bogus

Right at the outset, I’m going to give the gentleman doing the analysis and explanation of Bryson DeChambeau’s “pull up, pull down” approach to the swing a break – he’s a PhD but not in the field of Kinesiology or anything else sports related, so he’s a layman here.

That’s important – they really try to pull a fast one here on the viewer by introducing “Dr. XYZ, PhD for the segment, when he essentially wouldn’t be any more of an expert in the discussion than anyone else.

Modern Lofts vs Back In The 90’s Are Ridiculous

I came across a Tweet this morning showing Bryson DeChambeau’s stock distances with his club lofts.

This has nothing to do with him specifically however as I’m just remarking on the club specs.

To put it mildly, I’ve always been aware of the clubmaker scam where they kept lowering the lofts to make the same number iron hit the ball greater distances, but I was absolutely blown away by how far they’ve gone.

Could Bryson DeChambeau’s Left Wrist Problem Be A Technical Issue?

Update: WOW – It looks as though I was absolutely on the money with my speculation, because you’ll find at bottom a clip I found just before hitting “publish” on this post.

Rather than re-write it, I’ve inserted it at bottom, but I’d love if you’d read the post from beginning to end instead of jumping to the evidence.

Jack Nicklaus’ Power – Watch The Weight Shift

I’ve broken that long iron swing of Jack Nicklaus’ from yesterday’s post down into the 2 separate components of the back pivot (loading the trebuchet) and the down swing weight shift (leveraging the trebuchet).

This weekend, you’ll be able to watch all you want of today’s pro players contorting themselves trying to generate power from every wrong way, and you can compare them to Nicklaus’ weight shift leveraging his power effortlessly.

Once You See The Vertical Swing

Once you see the “vertical” nature of the swing, as I said I only see “up” or “down” with the swing action, you will spot it in technically superb swing actions.

Jack Nicklaus, at times, came so close to the optimal swing action, it’s why he was able to win 18 majors and snag 19 runner-up finishes (that’s 37 Top 2 finishes in majors, something you’ll never see again).

Not One “Feel” Or “Visual” Clue From Dunaway/Austin

I have to conclude that the real reason no one has ever mastered the true intricacies of the swing model known as the “Austin/Dunaway” is not because it’s too complicated or difficult to learn.

It is simply, in my view, that it wasn’t explained in a way that people could relate to it.
