Closest Swing To Optimal Pt II – Down The Line View

As I said, I don’t have time to fully rehab and get back to peak swinging shape for a video, so I was waiting before swinging into production to see if I could do so – that didn’t happen as I wasn’t able to actually get out until a week ago.

Fortunately, I have seen enough from my comeback swinging to know that I have video in my archive that essentially looks like how I’d be swinging today were I in peak form – I had been planning on this video in the autumn of 2022, but I got sidetracked with other investigations and spent the next couple of years looking into various things swing-wise.

Then the Frozen Shoulder injury struck just as I was declaring that I had already figured things out by 2022, so this has been a frustrating year before I saw some light with the recovery rehabbing that is still in progress.

Optimal Drive – Down The Line

Fortunately, I am an obsessive videographer – I never conduct a swing session without recording video, so the swings I have determined were made from the proper setup and with the proper technique, I already have.

You can see how quiet the technique looks when you swing from the optimal setup – I was driving the ball up to 330 yards with this swing at age 52, and you wouldn’t think I was swinging hard at all, because there is no extraneous motion.

It’s all leverage produced by the setup with the hips and legs and minimal effort elsewhere – you have to let the hips and legs do the work if you want to swing with speed, power and efficiency.

There’s no manipulation of the hands or club face, nor am I compensating for anything because of the setup – I just get over the ball, align myself to the target line, and I swing back and then down and through, letting the ball get in the way.

I have now begun production on the video with the progressive pivot exercises, and I hope to have this completed by mid-July.

I had really hoped for June, but the days and weeks slipped by as I tried my best to get back into swing shape to shoot new footage.

That didn’t pan out, but the pot is now on the burner.

More to come.
