The Closest Swing I Have Yet To Optimal (MCS Setup & Pivot)

I have been holding off the swing part of the upcoming video since I completed the pivot exercise phase because I want to showcase exactly how the model and pivot work with the proper setup.

I went looking through my archives and found a day in October 2022 where my setup was nearly exactly what I would say is optimal face-on, and exactly how I would want to see it down the line, and today I’ll show the face-on.

I am going to try another swing session tomorrow, as I didn’t have any pain from swinging after Sunday, aside from the incredible muscle soreness after having been off swinging for 15 months.

Tomorrow, I’ll see if I can swing with the model even better than I was here:

The setup face-on is exactly as I described in my last video, except I would adjust that grip slightly, as well as the ball position – two very minor adjustments would fix what I feel is a less-than perfectly smooth pivot and down swing.

We’re talking about nit-picking here, because I was blasting drives right on line that day, but again, I’m not here for “pretty good” or “nearly got it.”  As a swing researcher and modeler, I want to nail it.

If you look at my right foot on the down swing through impact, you’ll see a slight slide onto the toe right as I’m coming into the swing bottom.

Ideally, I want that trailing foot to remain in place until the follow-through finish either drags the foot slightly or performs the step-around to the finish.

I’ll get back to the launch monitor tomorrow, hopefully Saturday the latest, and I’ll be able to compare what I was doing back then to now.
