The Pivot Drills Will Prove Classic & Destroy Modern Golf – If People Listen

You read that correctly – IF people listen and pay attention to how the progressive pivot drills work and how they illustrate exactly how the body is built to move with regards to a golf swing, they can prove that the optimal Classic Golf Swing motion is the way to swing.

They would also destroy the Modern Golf Swing nonsense forever – until the next time people decide to reinvent the wheel and proceed to forget how the body is built to move.

All I wanted to do with this progressive exercise was to make the pivot easier for people to understand and implement than what I already had come up with years ago:

What happened was that I realized somewhere along the way that you literally cannot get the pivoting action wrong if you follow the principles I establish along the way.

  • Beginning with the way you stand with your feet in order to eliminate any chance of lateral sliding so that you can “swing in the box.”
  • Moving on to how the hip action from right to left establish the setup position,
  • Showing how the shoulders and knees are connected,
  • Demonstrating how the simple starting hip action from the first drill begins the back pivot,
  • Then how the same hip action from the first drill provides the down swing transition and leverage for the entire action and finally,
  • The proof with the arm and hand action that the swing action is vertical and not lateral or rotary.

“It’s That Simple…”

Now, when I say “it’s that simple,” it’s not to belittle or oversimplify anything about golf – none of us have the benefit of a kinesiology degree education.

It’s taken me 20 years of self-education on modeling movement and the body, and it’s possible that I wouldn’t have learned this if I had studied kinesiology, because it apparently hasn’t solved the issue of how to swing with mechanical correctness, looking at the modern game and instruction industry.

I would have to say that if anyone is teaching or working with the Modern Golf Swing and actually possesses a kinesiology education, then they are either going along with the game to protect a revenue stream or have been terribly let down by their institution.

The Modern Golf Swing model is irredeemably flawed and incorrect and attempts to make the body do what it isn’t designed to do, and that is a simple and brutal fact of life and athletics.

There aren’t a dozen exercises here – I start with how to stand and align the feet and how that establishes your stability, and by the end, you have the entire swing action down.

One simple progressive pivot drill exercise that you can pull out of thin air if you start to struggle or get off track, but I’ll be brutally honest with you all – if you follow along and listen to what I’m saying and watch what I’m doing, I firmly believe that you will learn and ingrain a proper pivot action and golf swing and you shouldn’t really ever get that far off track.

Some of you will do far better than others, because it all comes down to athletic motion and aptitude, but there are some great swingers of the past who hardly could have been considered great athletes.

Athleticism is not really required – only an understanding of what you’re doing with your body.

We will see how correct I am on my hunches in the space of a week to a week and a half, which is how much more time I think that video will take to complete.

If I’m correct, then I think that over a period of time, people will catch wind of the proper way to swing a golf club and the Modern Golf Swing game will eventually come to an end.

And it won’t be quickly enough for me.

Great to hear you found the Short Game video, MS! I was going to email you about that. Problem solved. 😊

As for commenting… looks like that is solved as well. 😂

      All the best.

As you know, there is no lack of videos on YouTube promoting and purporting the path to golf swing Nirvana. It’s quite a collection to be found on the site.

So why the MCS swing? The brilliance is it’s simplicity. Each edition of the swing we seen over the past decade (?!) can be viewed as another step in a process of streamlining and distilling.

I feel confident this soon-to-be released latest work will simplify the key movement, the pivot, and this will provide a path to consistent swing motion, the goal of every golfer!

Thanks for the kind words, Peter – you’ve been around from the start, so you know how the simplification process went. This pivot exercise sequence, I don’t know I’d be able to further simplify it. Time will tell! 🙂
