Tom Weiskopf – A Little Hogan, A Lot Of Nicklaus

It’s a pity Tom Weiskopf didn’t win more majors than the one U.S. Open that he bagged, because his golf swing has to be one of my top 5 to watch.

It was powerful and athletic, so mechanically-correct – and if you want to know how powerful, Jack Nicklaus said that the only golfer who could consistently out-drive him was Weiskopf.

Long Irons & Driver & The Vertical Impact Lines

The reason the optimal golf swing is vertical and not rotary or lateral is because, as I’ve said before, you are using leverage and gravity to swing down into impact, and if your position remains laterally stable, you are golden with a modicum of practice.

I have taken a 5 iron swing and a Driver, to illustrate how purely you can strike the ball without jumping out of your shoes or breaking yourself in the gym.

MCS Gold – Archive Swings Exactly How I Would Swing Today

I’ve been searching through my fairly large swing archive from between 2015-2022 and have found some archived swings from 2022 that are pretty much how I would be telling people to swing with the MCS Golf Swing model.

The years of 2023-25 consisted mostly of my investigating just about every variation of the swing with regards to grip, stance and mechanics, but as I have said, I basically had the MCS swing model figured out by 2015 and, aside from my personal journey to swing like this model, there has been very little change in said model over the years.

Sam Snead’s A-1 Pivot Action (Low Heel Like Hogan)

I love the rear face-on diagonal view when looking at a pivot action because it shows even more than a straight face-on or down the line views.

I’ve talked extensively about how I would take Jack Nicklaus’ adjusted setup from 1963 and pair it with Ben Hogan’s pivot action to create the optimal golf swing (I wouldn’t try to actually swing like Hogan because his particular swing model was rather unique), but there’s another pivot that I really like.

I’ve Already Made “The” MCS Golf Swing Video – Here It Comes Again

I have been going through my MCS swing videos, most particularly the EMCS series from 2017 and 2018, and I have to say, I can’t find much that has changed in my swing theory other than my own interpretation and execution of  the mechanics.

I had actually taken the videos down from sale because I was unhappy with my own swings in the videos, but the content itself .

Jack Nicklaus Called The Modern Golf Swing “Hogwash” In 1974

I originally posted this about Jack Nicklaus back in 2016 after KidCharlemagne had sent me the quote, and Scott from Arizona sent me a screenshot of the actual page taken from Nicklaus’ book “Golf My Way,” so why not re-post?

With all of our talk about Ben Hogan “experts” creating the Modern Golf Swing based on misinterpreting his mechanics and the explanations thereof, here is the G.O.A.T. telling it like it is, probably a few years after that infamous Ben Hogan video began misleading people the golfing world over.

How Leverage Is Lost – Breaking The Kinetic Chain

I had a video out a few years back that focused on the Kinetic Chain, which is the connection of body parts one uses to produce leverage in the golf swing.

The reason that Modern Golf Swing models are all faulty and mechanically unsound because they break the chain when they involve restricting the hip turn and twisting the lower body against the restricted lower body to achieve the shoulder turn.

Another Reason For The Nicklaus Setup & Hogan Pivot

I am absolutely sick of YouTube and the golf “instruction” found therein, so let’s take a break this U.S. Open and look at something positive, golf-wise.

If you’ll come along, there is another reason for using Jack Nicklaus’ setup and Ben Hogan’s pivot action – it has to do with ball placement within the setup.

MCS Golf Swing Prototype – 8 Iron Swing Clip

As I prepare to conduct the shooting for the upcoming “New E = MCS Golf Swing” video, I have found a pretty good 8 iron swing in my archives that best illustrate the setup and pivot action (with a couple of changes, namely the right-hand grip and my foot alignment).

It will be an ongoing theme – Jack Nicklaus’ setup with Ben Hogan’s “Perfect Pivot” action, and once again, I am finding my best swings to compare with the finished model are my MCS Golf Swing setup and swings from all the way back in 2015.

The New “E = MCS” Golf Swing Video Has A Few Changes

I have many time thought of re-editing the old “E = MCS” swing video because nearly all of it is still relevant, but the reasons I haven’t, and why I removed it from sale on the site are because I have made new discoveries since shooting that video back in 2017.

There are so few changes however, that I won’t even try to think of a new name for the upcoming video – it will simply be “The New E =MCS Golf Swing Video.”
