The No-Turn Down Swing (7i DTL

I have talked about the no-turn down swing for a while, but let’s take a look at it from the down the line perspective.

When I say that there is no turn in the down swing until momentum of the arms and club pull you around, I mean precisely that.

I have paused the down swing in the slo-mo just past impact, a fraction of a second before my right arm reaches full extension, and you can see that at that point, my shoulders are still pretty square to the target line.

Take a look:

My head is still facing the ball, the hips have opened because of the weight transfer into the leading foot:

… but as you can see clearly in the swing gif., it is the momentum of the club as my right reaches full extension that pulls me around into the finish.

So, how to do this, when you don’t know how to, and you’ve been told for years by the Modern Golf instruction that you must turn and swipe?

Not a problem – the progressive pivot exercises I’ve devised explain that, and I will show how, if you aren’t holding a club, there’s nothing to pull you around at the swing bottom, and will even show how the arms move back inside the swing arc without one having to turn.

It’s all simple kinesiology, and I have no idea how Modern Golf has gone so far off the rails that it’s running along beside them.

Fortunately for all of us, the Classic Golf Swing is the way to swing, and the MCS Golf Swing model is, until I can find prove otherwise, is the optimal way to swing Classically!

Yes! I notice this when I do my best shots. My body does not turn until what feels like the end of the swing. There is no turn in the downswing

I remember commenting years ago, DJ, about how you looked like you were swinging out to right field in one of your practice swing animations. Your response about stable head and good setup / pivot along with thinking about more linear and not turning always get me back to a solid swing. I’m always futzing around with things for some damn reason, and eventually I always return to the swing to right field thought, and combining with the no turn I get sorted out sooner rather than later. It’s always important for me to think down down down then out to right field. I’m looking forward to the pivot video if it helps refine my perception of that movement even more.

The fundamentals never change, do they Jeff? 😂

Yes, the angle concept will be making a return in the next video in the progressive pivot exercises 👍🏼
