Another Ben Hogan “Expert” Says The Complete Opposite

I’ve already briefly mentioned this fellow when talking about how so-called Ben Hogan “experts” are either completely misinterpreting what Hogan did or flat-out saying outlandish things that Hogan would have swatted away like a pesky fly.

I don’t even look for this stuff, it just comes across my feed because I am always searching golfers like Hogan, Nicklaus and other greats of the Classic Golf Swing era.

Ben Hogan’s Back Pivot – Jim McLean Just Making Stuff Up

I haven’t looked at Jim McLean’s description of Ben Hogan’s swing since I dissected it back in 2014, but today I ran across a shorter clip taken from the original and thought, “OK, my mental health is not too bad today, let’s have a quick peak…”

Bad idea, that.  It’s as bad as I remember it, perhaps even worse, after my having exhaustively gone through the Ben Hogan – How He Absolutely Didn’t Swing video from the 1960s.

The New “E = MCS” Golf Swing Video Has A Few Changes

I have many time thought of re-editing the old “E = MCS” swing video because nearly all of it is still relevant, but the reasons I haven’t, and why I removed it from sale on the site are because I have made new discoveries since shooting that video back in 2017.

There are so few changes however, that I won’t even try to think of a new name for the upcoming video – it will simply be “The New E =MCS Golf Swing Video.”

Mason Howell Qualifies For US Open @ 17 (That’s The Good News)

Thanks to the Chief for sending me the news that a young golfer named Mason Howell has qualified for the U.S. Open at the tender age of 17.

That’s heady stuff, but it’s unfortunately the good news.

The bad news is that Chief included a video montage of the young man’s golf swing, and I don’t know what else to call it except a five-alarm fire with regards to injury risk.

Heel Spinners – Try The Kettle Bell Test

While I would never blame or mock amateur golfers who have something like a heel spin in their mechanical action, it is a wonder to me that there are professional golfers out there who still do it.

I have been thinking about how to illustrate that the heel spin is from improper mechanics and not some physical impediment as many people with flaws in their swings claim to have, and this could be the one.

First The Flying Foot – Now The Heel Spin!

I have said that of all the sports you can think of, that golf is the only one that has regressed in modern times.

All other disciplines are using science, bio analysis and everything else you can dream up, to improve performance, reduce injury risk and perfect technique.

Golf?

Not even close, my friends, and let me show you what I’ve begun to see more of from Modern Golf.

This Will Cripple Future Generations, Do Not Do This (Flying Foot Training Aid??)

I didn’t think it could get any worse, what with golfers not knowing to properly release the trailing foot when the hip turn exceeds the ability to keep it anchored.

It was bad enough that the pundits and analysts couldn’t explain this swing flaw, then it got worse when they began to praise it as providing “vertical lift” by “using the ground” and all of that nonsense.

If The Average Person Can’t Do It – It’s Not Proper Mechanics

I found a comment in a YouTube short that encapsulates the madness of the Modern Golf Swing in general, but also specifically the Flying Foot Syndrome.

Let me ask you, if you’ve been involved in any sports other than golf – as an “average person,” which I certainly am, what would you expect to be taught with regards to technique?

Do You Want To Play Golf As A Game Or As A Sport?

I originally posted this back during the pandemic lockdowns, but for some reason I removed it.

I am re-posting it as I think some people need to think about the question.

You may think it’s an odd question, but it’s a question for the serious, want to learn a proper swing person to consider.

Seeing The Light About Grip – Hank Haney About Bryson

Now that I’ve seen the light with regards to my own stubbornness in changing a faulty grip (for me, it was an over-strong right hand because I was swinging left-dominant and so was focused on the left hand to the detriment of the right), things are jumping out at me.

For example, Tiger Woods’ former swing coach Hank Haney made comments about Bryson DeChambeau’s struggles in the final round of this year’s Masters, where he started in 2nd place behind Rory McIlroy, briefly took the lead and then tumbled down the leaderboard as the round advanced.
