It’s not a major one, but I can’t ignore that my foot setup has changed from the one I had when I developed the MCS Classic Golf Swing model.
It isn’t one that would be a make-or-break situation in the model, but it is one that I feel makes the model optimal as opposed to very close to it.
I’ve made adjustments to the model before, such as when I removed the angled stance to make the standard model one with a square stance to the target line.
I would wager that having a stronger grip than standard-neutral made the angled stance feel better or more natural, but when I changed my grip, I didn’t feel the need anymore for an angled stance, and my changing from left-dominant to neutral probably also factored in there.
Just as with the change in the foot positions, an angled stance doesn’t destroy the MCS Classic Golf Swing model, but it’s something I would say moves it away from optimal.
I will explain this change and the reasons for it in the upcoming remake of the “Kinesiology Of The MCS Golf Swing” video, upon which I’m currently working.
As I’ve already said, it will be a video that provides a progressive pivot exercise to teach the proper and optimal leg and hip action in the pivot, and also shows how one can adjust one’s setup to move from the standard Classic pivot action to the lower heel lifting Late Hogan pivot.
Same pivot, slightly different setups.
I’m very enthused about this, as I had intended to make this particular video last year but switched to giving people the mechanical action for what I call the Late Hogan pivot with the lower heel lift.
This video will show:
- how the progressive pivot action allows one to swing “in the box,” with no lateral action (other than the hip shift toward the target to transition to the down swing of course),
- the vertical nature of the swing action,
- how one doesn’t have to rotate the club face with the wrist action (something I have already showed in the “Basics Of The MCS Golf Swing” video),
- how the pivot action doesn’t involve a “shoulder turn” in the way the traditional pivot has been taught, but rather a “rocking the shoulders” action that I introduced again in the previous video,
- how one pivots with no “turn” and how there is no turning action until after the swing bottom and
- how to practice the advanced pivot exercise with the down swing sequence to train oneself not to try to turn the target on the down swing – you’re always square to the target line until post swing bottom.
More to come.
