My Former Late Hogan Pivot (2022) What Will Change?

I have a face-on view of one of my Late Hogan pivot swings from 2022, and I think I’m going to look a good deal different swinging in this model when I get back into things.

Incidentally, I still haven’t been to hit balls – I felt some soreness in the shoulder joint and surrounding muscles Friday morning, probably just over-did the rehabbing, and decided to err on the side of caution – I don’t want my first time out in a year to be the last time out for a year!

So, let’s take a look at this swing using the Late Hogan pivot action:

Considering that I didn’t realize that I had changed my pivot from the traditional Classic Golf Swing action to the Late Hogan action here, it’s not the worst in the world.

Again, in slow motion:

As I look at this action now, I know what will be different in the swing viewed face-on.

The ball position isn’t optimal, and I was still swinging with a left-dominant action, and you can see the effect it has on the transition as my head nudges ever so slightly to the target before it stabilizes for the down swing.

With a neutral or right-dominant action, the head will stay perfectly in place on the transition, with no lateral motion whatsoever – that’s the theoretical, let’s see what I can do in practice.

The balance is nearly perfect – even with just a little short-stop slide release in the trailing foot, there’s no twisting or rolling of the leading foot.

If a WAX Nation citizen sent me this clip, I would give them an A grade, but for myself, this isn’t better than a B+ if that, since I know exactly what should be happening and what is or isn’t.

So, marks deducted for the ball position and left-dominant action, but otherwise a very passable pivot action from the waist down.
