My Hogan Pivot Action – Rear View

I have taken a swing of mine with the driver viewed from the rear aspect to illustrate my point about Ben Hogan’s later pivot being powerful even with a very low heel leading heel lift.

Because of the particular mechanical action of the hips and legs, you don’t get the high heel lift of, say Jack Nicklaus, but there is still a full hip turn and loads of leverage in the down swing action.

3 Hogan Pivots – The Last One Was The Perfect One

As I mentioned in yesterday’s post, I was delighted to have found that Golf Digest video talking about Ben Hogan’s swing mechanics, because it contained a swing clip I’d never seen before.

It bridged the gap between Hogan’s early years on the PGA Tour with the early pivot action he performed then and his eventual “Perfect Pivot” action that everyone today knows by sight.

Great Ben Hogan Video From Golf Digest (Luke Kerr-Dineen)

I came across this great video from Golf Digest with Luke Kerr-Dineen presenting a look at Ben Hogan’s swing and his so-called “secret.”

I would recommend watching the whole thing, because it tells you exactly what I’ve been telling you all for years – Ben Hogan’s swing was his own swing, and it isn’t to be copied nor emulated.

Once Again, The Hogan Meme Rears Its Head With The Instruction To “Do The Opposite”

I have said that no one out there who mythologizes Ben Hogan actually follows what he did, nor have they any clue what he was actually doing in his swing.

Here is yet another example of such, where the fellow here (again, seems a decent fellow) uses Ben Hogan’s image in his video’s thumbnail, then proceeds to get it completely opposite of what Hogan’s swing mechanics entailed.

Hogan’s Pivot Action – 5i Diagonal View (Power & Leverage)

I have a 5 iron swing from when I shot the “E = MCS” video back in 2017, and you can see how deceptive the Hogan pivot action is with the low heel lift – but the fully turned hips provide all of the leverage power here.

I know that if I can successfully transfer the knowledge of how to perform this pivot, it will be a game-changer, even for the WAX Nation citizens of old – there is a Classic Golf Swing pivot, and then there is the Classic Golf Swing pivot, which is Ben Hogan’s.

Flashback – 187 MPH Ball Speed Using Ben Hogan’s Pivot Action (Jack Nicklaus Setup)

First, thanks to everyone who has purchased a download of the “MCS – The Short Game” video – I appreciate your supporting the blog!

I have mentioned several times that Ben Hogan’s pivot is what I consider the “Perfect Pivot” action and I can attest personally to this.

The highest ball speed I can personally say I achieved with a regular golf club (I have hit over 190 mph ball speed but with a long drive club and long drive swing action), was with two things related to Ben Hogan, actually!

MCS Video In November – And The Pivot Has Never Been Easier

I’m reaching the end of working on side issues that have delayed my completion of the upcoming MCS Golf Swing video, so I can confidently say that the video will completed and available next month.

Exactly when next month, I cannot promise, unfortunately – I just know that, unless something unanticipated arises, I’ll have the time to complete the reviewing and compilation of material from the previous videos and my swing archive and get this project done.

OK – Let Me Show You Something YouTuby That Completely Reverses Ben Hogan

The reason I keep mentioning Ben Hogan in my tirades about YouTube instruction is because Ben Hogan’s swing model has become the pseudo-standard for Modern Golf Swing instruction.

Meaning, everyone thinks they are modeling Ben Hogan with their misguided teaching, but it’s so far from the actual Hogan as to be unrecognizable – and he would drop dead if he were still with us, I can assure you.

I Finally Agree With Tiger Woods – Again (Don’t Watch YouTube)

I first agreed with Tiger Woods when he was asked who the G.O.A.T. was – his blunt and direct answer was, “Nicklaus – I’m four majors (then, now three) behind him.”

You have to understand that I don’t have any sort of hatred for TW – I simply abhor the way he has swung from when he was an amateur, because the Modern Golf Swing is garbage.

I consider him the greatest victim of all time (of bogus swing instruction), but at a certain point, he should have begun to look into a more mechanically-sound way of swinging.

One Setup, One Swing – Nicklaus + Hogan = MCS Swing Video

Both Jack Nicklaus and Ben Hogan had a setup that was considered “the same for all clubs,” and that is the way you want to swing as well.

I’ve been saying forever now that you want to setup more like Nicklaus did (I don’t think he invented the setup, but as the G.O.A.T., we’ll just call it the “Nicklaus” setup), and that you want Hogan’s pivot action.
