Can We Blast This Straw-Man Into Outer Space? (Weight Shift)

One thing I have noticed with the Modern Golf Swing crowd is that they are either incredibly disingenuous when discussing proper swing fundamentals or incredibly dense.

I don’t believe so many people can be this stupid, so I have to conclude that there is a great deal of dishonesty required to be a Modern Golf Swing proponent.

Applying The “Box Theory” To A Decent Drive (2018)

I went looking through my archive again today in search of something to which I could apply my “box theory” regarding a proper MCS setup and pivot action.

From July 2018, I found the perfect example – a very nice swing action that resulted in a massive and straight drive – but one that didn’t look quite right to me setup-wise.

It was only with hand-eye coordination and a little bit of athleticism that I was able smash this drive on line.

Analyzing My 2011 Swing Model – Not Optimal But Some Interesting Things Here

Sometimes, when I want to torture myself (because I really hate looking at swings and swing models that aren’t optimal), I will go back and look at how I was swinging in the early years of my swing research, and today I decided to go back to 2011.

It was the year after my first MCS swing video and I was working on the second one that I would release the following winter (MCS 2.0), and while the swing was mechanically-correct, there were some issues good and bad that I’d like to point out.

The Neutral Setup = Swinging “In The Box”

Those of you who were around last winter will remember that I had been conducting research on the right-dominant swing model and that I had concluded around that time that I had already figured out the optimal golf swing model.

It is an ironic situation in which one may find oneself when realizing that one had actually accomplished one’s mission but lacked the knowledge or expertise at the time to actually recognize the accomplishment.

Why I Squat But Don’t Dump – The Weight Shift

The answer is very simple – I don’t actually “squat” in my swing, as I’ve said for a long time that this position is merely a snapshot in a down swing where the weight is transferring from the trailing to the leading side.

It is useful to show positions in a swing, but useless to try to teach “swing by position,” because it occurs so quickly.

The “Hogan Pivot” & No Turn Pivot – Up The Line View

An up the line view of one of my driver swings from when I was shooting the “E = MCS” video back in 2017 shows how you can use the Ben Hogan “Perfect Pivot” to get great consistency in your golf swing.

I’ve said before that the golf swing isn’t really a rotary or “turning” motion, rather a pivot action and a down swing, where the hips and legs drive the swing and the turning of the hips are what rotate you to the finish.

I Had Modern Golf Swing’s Holy Grail In ’07 (Forget the Grip)

I looked at a swing clip of mine from ’07, that you’ve all seen before, and that something caught my eye, leading me to conclude…

… that in my first year of actual swing research (I started the mission in ’05 but didn’t have a chance to really hit balls regularly on the range until ’07 due to work and family constraints), I had what the Modern Golf Swing is killing itself to replicate.

Down Swing – Leverage vs Manipulation (Classic vs Modern)

Even Rory McIlroy, one of the best players on the planet, has to manipulate his down swing because of how the Modern Golf Swing has lost its natural leverage, which is not a problem with the Classic Golf Swing.

My issues with the golf swing never had anything to do with leverage, because I have almost always swung with a Classic Golf Swing motion.

Swinging “In The Box” – The Swing Effort Is Over At The Bottom

There is one thing that essential to comprehend and to believe in, for one to achieve one’s utmost potential in swinging a golf club with both precision and power, and to swing “in the box,” with no lateral motion.

That thing, friends, is to comprehend and believe the golf swing effort is over at the swing bottom.

I used to say the “the swing is over at the bottom,” but that then conjures the image for many people that “the swing stops at the swing bottom,” as if swinging into a wall or impact bag.

“That’s How You Turn Your Hips” OMG – More Turn & Swipe Tripe

They are teaching absolute nonsense, and I nearly choked on my tongue when, at the beginning of the below clip, the student performed a “Turn & Swipe” motion with his head moving laterally (a big sway and turn and swipe), to have the “instructor” (I use this term far too loosely) say, that’s how you turn your hips!”

Oh, do tell, instructor!

You turn your hips by swaying to the target rather than sliding to the target (both being garbage mechanics)?
