My first day back swinging after 15 months off was six days ago, so going on a week, I am confident that the Frozen Shoulder is behind me after another session swinging with no pain to speak of.
Once warmed up, I don’t even think of the shoulder, which is a relief, but I am seriously put out by my speed and power deterioration after the layoff.
I suppose, at 56 years of age, I should be comparing myself to the Champions Tour players now in terms of club and ball speed and distances instead of the regular PGA Tour fellows, but the battle against Father Time isn’t over.
First order of business will be to lose the weight I’ve gained not being able to do anything except walk for over a year with regards to exercise, and I’m sure that some muscle strengthening will occur naturally with regular swinging again, but yeah…
Here’s how things looked today:
There’s not much technically wrong with my swing action, other than having lost a good deal of range of motion. I’m swinging according to the MCS Golf Swing model specs so not much can go wrong ball-striking-wise.
Setup looks solid:
Of course, I’m swinging to get back into shape and not to enter any long drive competitions any time soon, so I’ll just get on a regimen and hope to get back close to what I was doing before the Frozen Shoulder injury.
I will get onto that video project that I had announced earlier in the month but which I was delaying until I could get back to swinging again, so that I could shoot the pivot exercises with some degree of range of motion.
I’ll have more on that in a few days.
More to come.
