Coming Video – “Introduction To MCS – The Classic Golf Swing

I am beginning work on the first golf swing video of what will be the three swing models of the Mechanically-Correct Swing family, and that video will be called “Introduction To MCS – The Classic Golf Swing.”

As I said earlier, this is the easiest and most basic of the mechanically-correct swing models and is the type of swing model used by modern PGA Tour (and former) players Bryson DeChambeau, Phil Mickelson, Bubba Watson, Vijay Singh and going back to Jack Nicklaus and Bobby Jones.

The current video I have available, “Basics Of The MCS Golf Swing,” features the second of the three models, which uses the transition pivot action that I call the Late Hogan action and will take you from the Classic Golf Swing to the Post-Modern model.

Even Ben Hogan used this swing model before his near-fatal wreck:

It is the traditional swing model with which everyone who played golf before the Modern Golf Swing abominations is well familiar.

It uses a completely rotary hip turn action and its hallmark is the visibly lifting heels, the leading heel on the back pivot and the trailing heel on the down swing into impact.

It was the first swing model I figured out and have featured on this blog before making the transition Late Hogan pivot model video this spring, and you will have seen me making hundreds of swings with this model over the years:

… and if you gave me a Momentus Heavy Driver to swing, I would use the traditional Classic Golf Swing pivot with which the swing it because the action is so basic, leveraged and repeatable.

There is no shift of the hips on the back pivot, it’s a purely rotational action and if you can walk, dance or perform any other rudimentary hip and leg action, you can swing with this model.

New Pivot Exercise!

The best part of all… I was thinking that there has to be an easier way to demonstrate the rotational Classic Golf Swing pivot that my standard pivot exercise with the club across the shoulders:

I found that this above drill is essential for practicing and ingraining the pivot action for the Late Hogan model because of how the shoulders and hips create the posting action, but that there is a much easier pivot exercise to get one understanding the pure simplicity of the rotary Classic action.

It is a drill you could teach to a 5 year old child, and the simplicity of it will likely make some people who have struggled with the golf swing laugh when they try it and see.

MCS Classic Golf Swing

Even better, you don’t need anything for this exercise – so you can practice this virtually anywhere you have a yard or meter of space around you, without any aids or sticks.

I got so excited when I came up with it that I jumped into my chair to write this post.

This is the video I was originally planning to make last year with the “swinging in the box” concept:

And also the “power line” concept:

I am continuing my rehabbing, as I felt a couple of weeks ago that the Frozen Shoulder isn’t quite yet cleared up and I don’t want risk re-injuring it, and continuing work on the Post-Modern swing model.

A perfect time to tackle the first of the three models for new arrivals at the blog or those who wish to continue to swing in the Classic Golf Swing model – for even long-timers here, if you’re struggling with you Classic model swing, I’ve got the goods for you in this video.

I’m starting on it today.

More to come!
