The main reason I said many years ago, when Tiger Woods officially hooked up with Sean Foley (he’d actually been seeing him on the sly for at least six months before breaking with Hank Haney) that he was going to break his back was because of his changed setup.
He changed from his right-to-center bias that you saw in his early years to what Foley was teaching, which was a Stack & Tilt type setup by any other name.
This is a killer for anyone who wants to swing as hard as Tiger always did, because it leaves you no room to shallow the club into impact due to the bias towards the target – in other words, you end up coming very steeply downward into the ball and you are going to chop huge divots, even with your long irons:
You will also risk injuring your lower back trying to sweep or strike up on the ball (driver and metal-woods, long irons) because we know the proper position at impact, and how exactly do you get a “Leaning A” impact position when your particular “A” shape is leaning the other way?
You have to shove your head back and downwards into impact:
… and that’s not good for the lower back, nor is it for the leading knee and ankle:
So, I thought this was a parody at first when I initially saw it:
You can imagine my confusion, having watched Tiger dig up massive pelts throughout the years, especially those of around 2010 and onwards.
Witness:
I mean, he even takes a divot with this 3 wood with the ball teed up, and I can’t remember anyone in my life ever taking a divot with a 3 wood off the tee:
I can understand saying, “I don’t take divots at times,” or “I don’t take divots when I want a crisp contact,” or anything like that, but “I never take divots…”
That’s either supreme trolling or high comedy.

maybe he meant in comparison to lee trevino? lol
No idea, AK, but I smiled when I read your comment.
So much mythology about TW will fill the airwaves in years to come, even though we have video readily available to double-check dubious claims such as Tiger makes in that clip – it’s already here, as in when Brandel Chamblee declared with his chest that Tiger Woods never squatted in his down swing.
I wonder which Tiger Woods he’d been watching when he said that, as TW is one of the most notorious harpooners of the Modern age.
