I’ve run across this account before and have just shaken my head over the stuff I see being peddled by a guy that could be me – older, grey beard and still swinging.
I can offer one redeeming factor in this channel, and it’s that this silver gent actually performs a Classic Golf Swing pivot with the lifting lead heel, which is the only reason he’s still able to swing hard at that age.
The rest is Modern Golf Swing nonsense – the “Flying Foot” swing flaw has been around since the Classic Era, but no one was shoveling manure like today, deliberately trying to make it canon for a proper swing.
Their newest clip however had me just shaking my head watching it, because I not only watched him doing something he says will destroy your swing, I fully predicted it before it even happened.
Bear with me – watch the clip first:
Did you see that?
First off, if he’s talking about “overloading the lead leg,” where do you think he’s actually doing that – in his “don’t do this” demo or the one where he’s saying he’s not overloading his lead leg?
In the first still pic, he barely has any weight at all in the leading foot, whereas in the second one, he’s got more than 50% weight into his leading foot.
So, which one would be the “overload” one?Β Obviously the green-leg position.
And that’s why I said, “from there, he’s got two options – swing through and pop his ankle and knee out of existence, or perform the “Flying Foot” through impact.”
Sure Enough…
Look at the red-legged demo position and his position in the middle frame. Virtually identical.
The only difference is that he stands up in the red-legged demo move, when the clip has nothing to do with changing levels during the swing – it’s about “overloading” the lead leg.
The only time he does that is when he’s performing the green-legged demo move.
Not only that, look at the head positions and spine angles in his “do this” demo vs his actual swing:
He’s clearly not doing what he’s telling people to do, because he knows that his head has to be over his right leg with a back-tilting spine at impact.
Which is what he’s actually doing in his “don’t do this” demo down swing.
It it doesn’t matter, because no one who knows anything about the golf swing is watching this channel (other than critics who watch them for the purpose of blasting their contradictions and unsound mechanics out of the water), so they can get away with this nonsense.
