One thing I have noticed with the Modern Golf Swing crowd is that they are either incredibly disingenuous when discussing proper swing fundamentals or incredibly dense.
I don’t believe so many people can be this stupid, so I have to conclude that there is a great deal of dishonesty required to be a Modern Golf Swing proponent.
The one single straw-man that absolutely burns my biscuits is that of the weight shift or weight transfer.
What will you invariably see from these charlatans when they are advocating a Stack & Tilt or reverse-pivot move in the back swing?
See if you can spot the straw-man below in just the first few seconds:
Here’s another one, just watch the first ten seconds:
And our Hall of Shamer once again:
So, what did we all just see here?
If you didn’t catch it, then I’ll tell you now – every single person who says you shouldn’t shift your weight on the back pivot is making a full-body shift to their right with the head moving along with the shift.
That’s a body shift, not a pivot.
So, there’s a difference between shifting the weight on your pivot and simply shifting your body along with your head one way or the other, correct?
Now, are they so dense (you tell me) that they can’t distinguish a weight shift from a head shift?
Because it’s possible to shift weight both to your right and to your left (back swing and down swing) without having to shift the head back and forth.
How about this?
Jack Nicklaus
How about this fellow:
Ben Hogan
Any more?
Yes.
Bubba Watson
How about a guy who doesn’t even play pro golf? Not a chance, right?
Wait:
So, you tell me what the deal is – that these guys have absolutely no clue how the body works and can work, that they’re so dense that they can’t look back to the Classic Golf Swing days and see for themselves that the best swings had weight shift but no or very little head motion, or that they’re simply blowing smoke up your you-know-what?
Could it be one for some and the second for others?
Is it really possible that golf instruction is in such dire straits because no one teaching the swing has any clue what they’re doing?
Because this straw-man is giving me heartburn.

🤣🤣🤣DJ lad, why do you bother with these plonkers! Shoot me an email & we’ll have a good chew👍🏿
I absolutely hate it, Indybah – but there are people out there who will see a video with hundreds of thousands or a million views and think, “this must be legit…”
I am fighting what I hope is the good fight in combating golf instruction plonkery.
You and I know they’re what they are – I need anyone who comes across my blog to know it as well 😂👍🏼
There’s a saying in Yorkshire, “there’s nowt queer than folk”
Aye, is right mate 😂
Bee reet. 😉
DJ, since I’ve been following your posts about the MCS I am now able to see what is happening with professional golfers and how they are putting tremendous pressure on their knees, hips, and back, by keeping their feet planted on the ground. They would alleviate so much pressure by letting that lead heel lift – at a minimum – and let the trail foot gather as their swing and power are unleashed. I am by no means nailing the MCS but when my sequencing is on (I’m working on a slower takeaway) I can’t believe the distance gains but more importantly how much less stress I’m putting on my body. Thank you!
You’re more than welcome, Hibbert!
Thanks for the kind words, and keep on working on that MCS action 😊
