I’ve been searching through my fairly large swing archive from between 2015-2022 and have found some archived swings from 2022 that are pretty much how I would be telling people to swing with the MCS Golf Swing model.
The years of 2023-25 consisted mostly of my investigating just about every variation of the swing with regards to grip, stance and mechanics, but as I have said, I basically had the MCS swing model figured out by 2015 and, aside from my personal journey to swing like this model, there has been very little change in said model over the years.
It was like a birthday gift when I clicked on the folder containing swings from September of 2022, and most of the swings I showcase in the upcoming MCS Golf Swing video will likely come from therein.
Example, I recently showed a swing gif showing the Ben Hogan-inspired pivot action from a rear view:
… and when I took a look at more angles of drives I’d recorded that day, I knew I’d hit the jackpot.
I have the rear view shown above, as well as down the line:
… in addition to a diagonal view:
… and of course the requisite face-on view:
What I love about these swings is that I was just hitting balls that day working on my grip and pivot action, and they are exactly what I would be advising for an optimal golf swing motion.
You have the flawless impact position:
… complete with the leverage line from the club head through the hands to the leading shoulder, and the “Perfect Pivot” action of Ben Hogan, evidenced by the full shoulder & hip turn yet with a low lifting heel:
I have been lamenting how my mysterious left shoulder issue (I hurt it back in March, but I hadn’t hit a ball in days when I noticed the pain on a back swing with the training aid) has kept me from demonstrating my ideal MCS Golf Swing action as I now know it to be optimal.
However, I’ll tell you right now, I would be hard pressed to make better swings, technically, than you are looking at here, from the stance to the grip to the pivot action.
I have already identified iron swings that I like, from the same month, and I suspect that I was planning to produce a video that autumn (these are from September), but that I got distracted with the opening of the Tracer Golf facility around that time and fell down the rabbit hole of experimentation (why not?) that winter.
So, while the more important aspect of the MCS Golf Swing videos have always been the explanations and demonstrations of the proper setup, grip and pivot mechanics, I am delighted to have found swings in my archive that would literally be how I would be swinging today.
I anticipate a late August release, if all goes well.
More to come!

Beautiful swing!
Cheers, Scott – anyone can swing this way if provided the blueprint. It’s like shooting a free-throw – technique!
Looking forward to it!
Aside from a swing that is aesthetically pleasing, produces consistent results, and is easy on the body, I’m searching for a swing that is low maintenance.
I love to practice but I don’t love panic practice of trying to figure out why I all of sudden lost my swing, particularly with my driver, which stops me from playing more rounds of golf.
Now, I know that it’s my model and I know it inside out (and I always used to swing my swing aid even in the off-season to stay limber), but this is my driver swing after 8 months off hitting balls back in the pandemic times. Last time out, September ’20 and this was June 15, ’21 between lockdowns:
Not my best swing ever, but after 8 months off…
It is such a basic swing, I don’t see how you can lose it once you have mastered the principles of the setup and pivot action.
I think a narrow stance is supposed to be better for taller guys
It really depends on the swinger’s preference and perhaps age.
Here I am with the same model, but 7 years younger. Wider stance, but the only adjustment would be a longer slide release with the trailing foot:
Can’t see anything wrong with that swing! Extremely powerful and efficient. I’ve been doing the slide release recently similar to Payne Stewart, and my shots have never been so straight with the woods, and irons 3- downwards.
Should of said narrower. I remember George Knudson saying in his book that he took a slightly wider stance due to his height.
That swing gif. (and the swing clip itself) – the only one in my thousands of swing clips with a driver that I actually like.
I’ll correct myself and say that the driver swings from that particular day, May 16th, 2015 are the best swings I’ve ever made. Another one from that day – I would bottle this day and the only change I would make, if any, would be to the right hand grip:
Even had the Hogan waggle, just a year removed from my extended study of his swing and pivot action.
