The only thing I would add to Charley Hull’s comments on Modern Golf are that the Modern Golf Swing itself is also a reason to not watch golf on television today.
You all know my views on it – I rarely if ever watch golf on television these days, aside from the odd final round of interest, such as Rory at the Masters last April.
So, it was a surprise to hear someone less than 30 years old expressing dissatisfaction with the state of today’s golf.
Mind you, Charley Hull has a Modern Golf Swing, so that isn’t her reason for not watching golf on TV:
However, I can’t argue with her thoughts on the state of things today, as expressed in the article by Gianni Magliocco on GolfWRX:
“I think golf back 20, 30 years ago, say 19 — up to like 2000s, it was more of an art. The players, even then men, would have to hit draws and fades and stuff it in… the technology has advanced so much everyone can just hit it straight and far, and it’s kind of taking the art away from it.”
“Whenever I watch golf, I watch Shell’s Wonderful World of Golf and all that lot… I wouldn’t really watch golf now really.”
How many times have I lamented the disappearance of the old shows on The Golf Channel such as Shell’s or the Bobby Jones lessons series?
It’s good to know that at least some of the modern players are missing the old Classic Golf Swing material, and the only thing I would add would be… Charley Hull, you would probably play ever better golf, and for much longer than you probably will, with a Classic Golf Swing model.
Other than that, I think she’s on point with her remarks.

Wow Charley Hull sounds just like me word for word when discussing golf! Similar age too.
Refreshing
Swing aside, Charley says what she feels and isn’t trying to be a cookie cutter robot during interviews, which I think is refreshing and great. Along with needing a resurgence of a Classic golf swing, we also need some characters like Seve
I’ve heard things about Charley, she seems a lively one. No problem with her at all, but I will always have a problem with the Modern Golf Swing.
