Update: I will be listing any online swing instructors that people alert me to at the bottom of the posting /update
I took some time off blogging, as you’ve obviously noticed, and it wasn’t just that I’ve been spending summer time with the family during the school break.
I also just got so sick and tired of going through golf content online that I can no longer do it for the purposes of pointing out nonsense and garbage swing mechanics.
It is so bad out there that when I received an email a couple of days ago from a reader interested in finding good online instruction – I couldn’t think of or find one single source where one can learn a mechanically-sound golf swing online.
That is depressing, and I am no longer going to test my sanity trying to point out to everyone the bad things out there – as far as I know, it’s all bad, and if anyone can point me out a YouTube instructor who actually teaches and performs a mechanically-sound golf swing, I would be delighted to retract the statement and point them out to everyone.
I’m going to shift gears and just focus on proper mechanics going forward, while I work on the golf swing video that I want to release in the not too distant future.
There is just so much material I have to go through to make a new, cohesive video, that I’m not going to waste any more time sifting through the sewage that is online golf instruction.
Just Call Me Manya
So, I will take another day to reflect on the future course and resume posting tomorrow – and this time, I will be focusing on what makes golf swings good rather than bad, because if you want to know what bad golf swings are, just head over to YouTube or Instagram and watch the swings of literally anyone teaching “modern” golf swing principles.
Like This – This Guy Sells A Course
There is enough of that pointed out on this blog if you really want to see how bad it is, but let’s just move on, shall we?
More to come.

Update: As promised, anyone who is online teaching proper golf swing mechanics, I will list below
- Steve Pratt – “Hit It Longer” – Of the Mike Austin school of golf swing

Completely understand. I exhausted my sanity recently (I’m a superman fan and comic reader) just looking and debating the awful new so called Superman film and it’s defenders. Cannot imagine how draining it must be for the numerous golf videos on youtube! Looking forward to your video, anyhow. Glad you’re doing well. Was curious.
I haven’t seen the new Superman film, AK – in fact, I believe the last iteration I watched was “Superman vs Batman” and only because it was an in-flight film coming home from a WAX Golf summit and it was either that or stare at the seat in front of me 😉
I am actually doing very well except for the bum shoulder that is currently keeping me from swinging (which distresses me to no end but I am being stoic about it), and I certainly hope I didn’t cause alarm with my sudden absence 🙂
oh gosh snyder stuff…my man supes has not caught a break 😦 Well, a plane journey justifies it lol
No distress haha glad you’re doing well. Though,if it was 6 months,I’d be contemplating paying a private investigator all the way in Canada…..half serious haha
No need to make the call, AK – alive and well, though extremely warm lol 🥵😂
Absolute! move on to your genius stuff bro –
i’m pretty sure you’re preachin’ to the choir here –
anybody who’s with you this far 🙂
and if they ain’t,
gravity and her associated forces will school ’em soon enough -!-
(Summer fun & Best to you and your tribe 🙂
You are onto something there, datadoc – it never occurred to me that if someone has been reading this blog for any length of time and is still here, I likely don’t have to do anything at all to warn them off the Modern Golf Swing, and only have to stick to the proper stuff! 🙂
That’s a good point. Those of us who are here didn’t come because it was advertised. We came here because we agree with Dj.No need to raise cortesol levels amongst ourselves.
Right on, AK! 😂
Hi D.J.
Steve Pratt of hititlonger.com is very close to your idea of a mechanically sound swing.
Declan
Thanks, Declan – Steve Pratt is definitely of the old school, being of the Mike Austin school of swing, and while I probably don’t agree with 100% of the things he says regarding the swing, he teaches Classic mechanics.
I’ve updated this posting 🙂 👍🏼
Roger King pops up as a relatively new to You Tube instructor who may be worth a look. Lots of Austin in his ideas. But it is amazing how many “instructors” are out there showing you a swing that’ll send your 8 iron 195 yds. Or at least that’s the read out on their indoor swing screen!
For me, I am re-watching the downswing on the classic “MCS – THe Full Swing” video. I will say this: as clear as that video is (and it is step-by-step clear) having a set of eyes watching your interpretation of the simple and beautiful MCS motion that actually understands the swing, would save me a few zillion buckets of balls as I find the right positions “in the dirt” at the range. Mons you, I love the process of digging. But I know someone who knows the swing, would save me a ton of time as I figure out the swivel isn’t the pivot on a full swing or my backswing is too flat…Yadda yadda yadda…
I will have a look at Mr. King, Peter – haven’t heard of him, but anyone who merits it will get a mention.
I have been thinking of re-introducing a private members’ section where people can do what we used to do, if you remember the time. I would analyze members’ swings and post them (if they wished) to comment on the good and what to work on/fix.
If enough people want to participate and make it feasible, I would love to do so!
DJ – Its time! Count me in as supporting this old is new idea!
I will add Monte Scheinblum, although he is not a “Youtube instructor” per se any more. He’s mainly on instagram, golfwrx forum and of course his own website rebelliongolf.com
I would also suggest Paddraig Harrington again, but we had that already, right?
Yes, Monte Scheinblum – I actually featured him in a post here many moons ago. He had dropped the Classic Golf Swing in favor of Modern back then, but he went back to the Classic to compete in Senior Long Drive.
Good instructor.
Look up Monte’s Golf at https://www.youtube.com/@MontesGolf. He grew up with Bill Mehlhorn, a very good friend of his father, tutoring him. He became so sick of the BS that is out there he started posting his opinions and methods. I find him both entertaining and informative. He also very recently did a couple of interviews with Ralph Perez at Gotham Golf Blog that are worth a listen.
All the best!
Geoff
I’ll give him a look when I have a moment, Geoff! 🙂
The French tennis coach – youtube? I’d be interested in your take.
Apologies, I don’t watch tennis, limburger.
Could you elaborate on whom you’re referring to and what he would have to do with the golf swing? Thanks.
DJ
Lol, I meant the French Golf Coach.
If it’s this gentleman, he seems a very pleasant fellow, however he swings Modern Golf Swing style, so I unfortunately can’t recommend.
Hey DJ, here is another one for you: Julian Melleor
He was a former teacher of “The Easiest Swing” by Brian Sparks and now does his own, very similar thing. Often targeted as a “seniors” golf swing, but he sure helps me with my 40 years of age an pain after playing… What you think?
Haven’t heard of him, Droggelbecher – will check him out 👍🏼
