MCS Golf Swing Prototype – 8 Iron Swing Clip

As I prepare to conduct the shooting for the upcoming “New E = MCS Golf Swing” video, I have found a pretty good 8 iron swing in my archives that best illustrate the setup and pivot action (with a couple of changes, namely the right-hand grip and my foot alignment).

It will be an ongoing theme – Jack Nicklaus’ setup with Ben Hogan’s “Perfect Pivot” action, and once again, I am finding my best swings to compare with the finished model are my MCS Golf Swing setup and swings from all the way back in 2015.

That would be due to the fact that I became busier with consulting and traveling regarding the golf swing and spent less time on my own swing after the start of 2016.

It was only in the last couple of years that I was truly able to devote time once again to full swing research, and the  more time I spent looking at things, the more my basic swing action from 2015 stands out – only in 2022 did I get close to swinging as well again.

You can compare my swings in 2022 from the March with a much better grip with this one below:

I would take the grip from 2022 and add it to the setup and swing action from 2015, and although my footwork though impact and the follow may differ (if you make any changes, other things change), though only slightly.

I would predict less of a slide, but I’ll have to get back to swinging again and shoot some video (as soon as I feel my shoulder can take fully swinging), to see exactly how it looks compared to my indoor pivot work.

Yes, you can work on your pivot without swinging a club, because the pivot is all in the hips and legs, so I have an idea of what the footwork will look like, but still want to make some actual swings to compare.

My guiding principle, believe it or not, is “how much do I like this swing action?”

The more I like it, the better it is, mechanically.

The beautiful aesthetics of mechanically-correct motion are to me like poetry, whether it’s watching  a sprinter, basketball jump shot or a free kick in footy.

More to come.
