Jack Nicklaus + Patty Sheehan = Awesome Setups

You’ll remember my looking at a particular Jack Nicklaus setup from back in the 60’s and how I declared it nearly optimal, except for the extra wide stance?

Well, don’t look now, but the more you compare certain things in setups of great swingers, the more you see how you should be doing it yourself.

Why don’t we take a look at Jack Nicklaus vs Patty Sheehan and see how they compare?

Hint – they’re virtually identical, and the 60’s setup that I narrowed with poor photo-editing is bang-on the optimal setup I said it would have been.

First, let me compare the 60’s model of Nicklaus with his setup and my crude re-set of the stance width:

Jack’s Actual Setup vs DJ’s Adjusted Jack Setup

… and now let’s compare the altered setup that I crudely fashioned, beside what Nicklaus himself declared to be the proper setup:

They look virtually identical, with perhaps a little more weight to the right or trailing side with Jack’s red-shirt setup, but remember the one beside it is an adjusted photo, so the balances would have been different.

However, with the stance narrowed, Jack would naturally have had a little more weight balanced to his right side as he did in the red shirt. Let’s call them virtually the same.

Now, let’s compare Jack’s frontal setup with Patty Sheehan’s:

Can You Say “Two Peas In A Pod?”

If that isn’t enough for you, take a look at the two peas in the same pod when it comes to the down the line setup:

I mean, if you can find a difference that doesn’t include one wearing trousers and the other shorts or a skort, there isn’t any, is there?

Of course, Patty Sheehan was born in 1956 and would have been 4 years old when Nicklaus won his first major, therefore she would have been between 4 and 17 years old during Jack’s halcyon days (he won 12 of his 18 majors between ’60 & ’73), so I wonder whom she or her instructors modeled her golf swing after?

So, if you’re wondering how an out-of-shape 53 year old fellow can pick up a driver and slam 300 plus yard drives in his sandals:

… just remember whom I’ve modeled the MCS Classic Golf Swing after…

These Guys

… but most importantly, the greatest major champion and legend in his spare time, Mr. Jack Nicklaus:

That setup of mine is from the “E = MCS” video that I released in 2017, and the only difference I can see is that I had a stronger grip than Jack’s.  Of course, I’ve changed that since then, but you can clearly see that form follows form.
