Putting The Swing Into Sequential Order – Grip To Finish

The thing causing the delay in completing my video project is that of reconciling simplicity versus thoroughness, and trying to avoid either missing something or creating the video equivalent of “War & Peace.”

I keep finding things getting too long and overly intricate, but when I try to re-do a section with more simplicity, I start to worry that I’m leaving something out that I find to be an obvious thing, but may not be so to someone who hasn’t been studying and analyzing the golf swing for twenty-plus years.

I’ve come up with something that I think will keep me on track with the explanations, and still keep it simple – I am actually planning a larger, more expansive “everything you want to know about the optimal MCS Golf Swing model” video later, for those who are really into the mechanics and want to know everything inside-out.

That, I can say, would be a good deal longer a video than what I’m trying to create here.

Right now, I want to simply begin with the grip, and why it is so important to get right (it’s the only portion of the golf swing where you are actually touching the club), all the way to the finish position, without getting so technical that one is throwing out biology terms and physics equations.

The reason it’s taking so long is that I am frequently dissatisfied with my videos the minute I’ve got them finished and available (the curses of perfectionism), and this has been happening even before I finish the project – I guess as one ages, one’s mental quirks get stronger, so being a perfectionist with OCD (the reason I began this journey, ironically), I may not find that balance and may just have to say, “well, this is my best effort, even if I’m not over the moon about it…”

Back to work, and as I said before, I’ve said about all I can say about a proper mechanically-sound golf swing, and I’m no longer torturing my mental health watching YouTube content to pick apart, so I will have relatively little to say on the blog aspect of things until I’m finished this work.

I’ve also turned off the comments for now, just because I don’t like to miss responding to people and questions at a time when I have other things going on and can’t keep as close an eye on the blog as usual.  I will turn them back on when things are a little more normal on this side of the screen.

Wishing you all warmth in this cool period of the year.
