Congrats to Blake Elliott, who just bagged his 2nd NCAA Division 1 individual title for McNeese State today in the 34th Annual Louisiana Classics event!
That hashtag is bang-on, by the way – with his 2nd win in 4 events and a 4th consecutive Top-4 finish (W, T4, T4, W), I would qualify that as being “on fire.”
The irony of working with Blake Elliott of McNeese State on his swing is that we haven’t tried to do anything to increase his power and distance – it has just increased as we increased his leverage and efficiency in order to make him more consistent with his ball-striking.
I’ve said that the optimal technique for increasing accuracy and consistency will also be the model for combining it all with optimal power and swing speed.
I had to relinquish my title of “Longest Driver I Know Personally,” last week down in East Texas, because I couldn’t keep up with Blake when he got going with that leveraged swing.
I’ve got him by probably 80 lbs (35 kilos), but he’s producing so much power that I’d have to start working out again to match him (as in swing work, not gym work…).
So, I really have to post a swing video clip of Blake Elliott, whom as I mentioned I consulted with on his swing a couple of weeks back on my trip to Southern California.
The question will invariably arise in the wake of Brandel Chamblee’s book on the Classic Golf Swing and how terrible the Modern Golf Swing is – “OK, so where are the classic golf swingers?”
