I got a late night email from targettom, who watches any and everything involving golf, to let me know that Michelle Wie has apparently suffered another “left side” injury, and it appears to be in the back and left hip area.
The David Leadbetter situation is even uglier than I thought it was.
Apparently, he wasn’t even Lydia Ko’s main coach, which leads to the unfortunate conclusion (if you have another one, I’d love to hear it) that he was exploiting her for his own ends, and that’s as good a reason to have fired him as any.
It gets to the point, if you’re looking at and evaluating the Modern Golf Swing proponents and how they train and swing, you begin to wonder if you’ve gone through the looking glass without knowing it.
I find the lack of any concrete and fixed philosophy in modern swinging to be maddening (although some would say it wasn’t the golf, but that’s another story), because there really is no set theory to the modern golf swing except “Keep That Leading Heel Nailed Down!”
Thanks to MichaelH. for reminding me of something about the A-Swing, which had completely slipped my mind…
My 3rd day posting about this issue, because it really rankles me.
I would love to know why David Leadbetterforced Lydia Ko into that ridiculous “A-Swing” of his, if it wasn’t for the obvious reason that comes to mind – that it was to make money off her by selling his swing with her as his “Top Gun” using it.
David Leadbetter is keeping it classy following his discarding by Lydia Ko, putting all of the blame on her 2016 drop-off in performance (of course, it couldn’t be the A-Swing garbage he forced on her last year) on – get this – her parents.
I was looking for a good swing clip of Tony Finau today for whatever reason – I wasn’t going to profile his swing or anything, although he’s a prodigiously long hitter.
I was just looking to see what he pivot action looks like, and it’s not bad, but the one thing I learned about anything today while looking at Finau’s “Golf Digest” analysis was – and this is embarrassing to have to point out, I assure you – the swing gurus to the PGA Tour players don’t understand the release action of a proper golf swing…
