I Am So Pumped For Spring!

After a winter off and having had to even take swinging indoors off for a few weeks (rib injury unrelated to golf), I am stoked to get the new season underway.

Right now, having no nearby place to hit balls indoors (as the Metro Golf Dome was destroyed by a record snowfall and is out of commission for the foreseeable future), I am patiently awaiting the outdoor season to arrive.

It shouldn’t be more than a few more weeks – I’m thinking early April the latest, since temperatures have no moved above freezing during the day and most of the snow/ice coverage has melted off, which means a little time for temps to stay above freezing overnight and for the ground to dry and firm up a bit.

Once things get underway, I have a full slate of things I want to do with the MCS Golf Swing model:

      • First, is to see what my own swing looks like after the winter work to tighten things up,
      • Next, to get some basic data on what I’m currently able to do at 49 years of age with regards to club and ball speed, launch angle & spin, etc. – I have a feeling that I will be faster than last summer, if the work I’ve done pays off (which I’m pretty sure it will), and the BFit launch monitor app from Bridgestone should work very well with regards to getting that basic info,
      • Also the issue of my theory on the “tight” position required for maximum leverage and power from the top of the back swing pivot – if I’m correct, this will be a bombshell for the MCS swingers out there,
      • New and high-quality video, real-time and slo-mo, on the new-and-improved MCS swing with up to 240 fps for the slo-mo, and finally
      • I’ll be transitioning hopefully to more video blogging (vlogs) rather than just the written posts – I had mentioned this before the New Year but the time off to recover from injury and illness made me put this off until I’m back outdoors again.

So, my down swing last year looked like this:

… and there are some things I want to see changed from up above when I get my changes on video, but that is the way I looked coming down to impact last July.

Not too bad…

..but it wasn’t perfect by any stretch, and I can certainly do better.

We’ve made it through the winter and the end is in sight – a couple to a few more weeks of prep time for the ranges and golf courses in this area, and we’ll be off with a flying start, one hopes!

Feel free to use this post as an Open Thread for the Players Championship currently underway.

Here’s my contribution for those of you who haven’t seen Tiger Woods’ trainwreck at the 17th Hole @ TPC Sawgrass.

Hint: It was not better than most… Quad bogey 7

Should be an interesting weekend with the current leaderboard – a lot of international flags up there!
