I would say that the things I’ve been showing you over the past few days would illustrate, if there is any such thing, a “neutral” swing plane on the down swing.
That would make sense, considering that if one’s hands are travelling a route that matches the club shaft’s impact plane, and the club itself matches that plane on the way down, that you would call this “neutral.”
I have taken two driver swings of mine, the first from back in 2011 when I was driving the ball as far as I do now, if not longer (there’s nothing like youth when you want to pound it), and one from this past summer.
I may have mentioned a little while back that I’ve just begun to study Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.
While I’m just getting into it (I started at the behest of my good friend The Welshman, who is enthused, to say the least), I’m already getting some valuable insights on the nature of leverage and how important the hips & legs are in producing the same.
A side item in these quiet days before the new season gets underway in 2019:
Back in the summer of 2013, I was toying with the idea of putting out the “MCS Baseball” swing model, because I searched and searched and searched on Youtube for any model to which I could compare what I felt was the proper action.
I’ve said since my early days in golf swing research and analysis that modern golf instructors and “gurus” seem to be trying to tell people that the rules of athletic motion are somehow different in golf as opposed to other sports.
That of course is so wrong as to be laughable, but I’m not the one trying to sell it, I’m just saying that athletic motion is athletic motion.
