I spent some time at the range yesterday, and I’m telling you friends, all I’ve been needing since the long winter has finally ended is some swing work and practice time to get the “swing machine” going full steam.
As I’ve said, we are not machines nor do we function and move as machines, but when you build a proper MCS Golf Swing setup and then execute your mechanics the way I’ve shown in the “E = MCS” swing video, then you can essentially create your own human version of a “swing machine.”
Real practice and work on the swing type of days are not several per week as I used to do when I had more time to spend at the range and course, but when I get in some regular work, the results are eye-opening.
I hit a jumbo bucket while spending some time talking swing with David D., and I popped over to a quiet section of the range to record some driver swings before the last balls were done, and you can see below how I’m swinging now:

What struck me when I watched the video was that there seems to be very little visible effort (to me, at least), even as I was pounding that ball.
Even with shorter flight range balls and the old Ben Hogan CS3, I was driving the ball to the bottom of the mogul mounds at the back of the range (320 yards from my tee spot), my 5 iron to the 225 yard green, and 8 iron to the 193 yard flag.

All with the same swing action that I finalized as the MCS Golf Swing optimal model last spring, and nothing has changed except I’ve had time to work out my setup and mechanics to a “T” where I didn’t last summer.

High and long, and well over 7 seconds hang time (with range balls, that ain’t too shabby), and they just seemed to sail forever before coming back down.
And again, you know you’ve got the optimal action going when you can come into impact with a very low trailing heel that only begins to lift and release in the post-impact phase:
So, the better my swing gets with setup and mechanics, oddly enough, the easier it looks I’m swinging even when going after it.
A swing that looks as though you’re swinging hard does that because you’re not in the optimal setup and action, so all of that extra motion gives the impression of a very fast and hard swing.
Contrast that to one which may look like an easier swing with better setup and mechanics and yet be producing as much power and speed if not more.
I’m going to be doing a numbers session soon on a launch monitor, and then we’ll see what the my optimal action is doing with regards to performance, but I’m feeling pretty good after just a half-dozen days into the 2018 season.
Then, I’ll do a proper shoot with a higher performance video camera and get some decent slo-mo from various angles on the driver and irons/wedges.
It was long time getting started, but better late than never!
