What I have found is the “key” in the setup that I built for the MCS Golf Swing, ending the long journey from the first crucial piece back in 2014 when I hit upon the right-biased and spine tilt being necessary to the optimal swing model.
The difference between MCS and other swing models, in fact, is this exact process I’ve been involved in, of not just building a golf swing model that I think is sound, but finding supporting evidence for everything in the model that I feel is optimal.
Not “great” or “good enough,” which is very much alright if someone is only after that, but when you’re looking for “optimal” and “mechanically-sound,” then you know there is only real way to do it.
Back in late 2016, you’ll remember my “Dropping The Hammer” concept for setting up the address:
And from there, while describing the swing from the “Dropping The Hammer” address position, I demonstrated how simple the swing could be:
Which then led to the breakthrough of realizing that for everyone who swings a golf, all you need is the “One Major Move” that I introduced in the “E = MCS” video on the optimal swing model:
And in that video, I stressed the nature of the Address/Impact relationship, and demonstrated it with the Kettle Bell lift:
The address has been where I focused most of my time, because to be honest, having been in sports my entire life from an early age, I didn’t really think I didn’t know how to swing a club – it was the address that always stumped me, for several reasons:
- No one ever showed me a proper address ’til I built my own through athletic sense and studying the greatest Classic era swingers,
- I am left-handed and swing right-handed and
- My physical deformity (scoliosis or curvature of the spine) made standing like anyone else problematic without compensations
So, while I’ve come up with the optimal swing model and can tell others how to stand over the ball and swing, I knew I wasn’t going to ever perfect my own MCS golf swing until I solved my personal issue, and now that I have, I have “cracked the nut” of not only knowing the optimal address stance, but being able to explain and prove why it is this way.
I’ll do my best to explain this cracked nut in the upcoming eBook “The MCS Golf Swing,” because the principles laid out in the two videos “E = MCS” and the “EMCS2 – The Follow Up” are not going to get any simpler.
What will get simpler is the actual swing itself when people understand it better, and that will be concept of understanding why you have to set up with your impact in mind when you build your address stance.
