Day 1 Video Shoot – In The Books!

Today was Day 1 of the “E = MCS” video shoot, and although I have yet to peruse the video footage, I believe it went off very well.

This video is going to be a little different from all previous MCS Golf Swing videos for a reason or two, the first that it was shot in 4K at 60 fps for the real time swings and in 180 fps for the slow motion.

This will make for a very crisp picture and hopefully a lot less distortion with the real time swings due to how digital cameras load images from top to bottom – this is why you get the banana-bend in the shafts near the bottom at times with 30 fps.

Second, it was shot by a professional videographer and not yours truly, so a bonus right there.

Third, there will be multiple angles on a good deal of swings with different clubs, rather than the standard face-on and down the line, although of course those are two of the angles.

Today, I also got to use a Go Pro so there will be swingers’ eye views of the swing and also how the address stance affects the grip and club face, as if you’re actually me looking down at my grip and club face.

You’ll also get a worm’s eye view of the swing, so lots of good stuff here that has never been in any of the previous videos!

The only drawback was that the range was still a little wet from all the rain we’ve had in recent weeks, but if I were to wait for drier conditions, it would mean waiting another month, because there is yet more rain on the way.

It was also pretty cool and windy, but since we were just shooting the swings today with no talking, I don’t see a problem with that.

I will be getting my hands on the raw video footage hopefully sometime tomorrow, Saturday the latest, so I can see if anything has to be re-shot, and then it’s on to Day 2 and perhaps a 3rd day if necessary to clean things up.

Thanks to Ralph and the Welshman for their assistance, and more to come!
