MCS Golf Swing Theory Solves Another “Big Miss”

20160530_104701When Blake’s father Trey asked me if I’d consider consulting with them on Blake’s golf swing, the concern was what usually afflicts high-level golfers…that being the “big miss” which comes out of nowhere and which can completely wreck a hole or even a round.

We were trying the first couple of days to get the standard MCS setup and mechanics nailed down when I made a comment to Trey that led to a shocking discovery about both he and Blake – they each have a right arm longer than their left!

The source of Blake’s big miss left was instantly identified, and we mulled over how to adjust the Standard MCS model for him.

We talked it over and headed to The Golf Club at Rancho California, where he teed it up cold on the 1st tee and promptly crushed a drive exactly as we mapped out.

It didn’t take more than 1 or 2 swings before we were grinning at each other – the adjustment  worked, and long before the end of 18 holes, we knew that his big miss is history.

Highlights? How about a crushed 369 drive into the wind with trouble left on Hole 5 (I have that swing on video which I will share shortly)?

Or his 4 iron to within 20′ on the 230 yard par 3 seventh hole? He hit two more balls on that hole…on the green with all 3.

The entire practice round was a highlight reel, nearly.

He already has a sparkling short game so…

You can imagine how eager he is to work on his game over the coming summer in preparation for his sophomore year at McNeese State.

Did I mention Blake stands about 5’10” and tops the scales at about 140 lbs after a big meal?

Natural speed, and now he’s adding MCS leverage to his athletic abilities…a great combo, I would submit to you, Wax Nation.

We have 3 more days to really get him set, then a round of golf at Torrey Pines South (where Tiger Woods won his 3rd US Open and last major in ’08), before I return home.

Then, we will see how things go in the coming season.

Great work, Blake!!

I don’t Tom… I will have to get some before the end of the week, but we’ve been so focused on the task at hand that other than taking some video at which to look, I haven’t been doing much shooting at all.

I want to see this stuff with my own eyes and not through a camera viewhole 😉

It is really something to see Blake’s swing from last year (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5JBqedPUnZ4) To go from that to his MCS position in 3 days is a testiment to you both. It just takes longer for us old guys 🙂 DJ, the swing I sent you the other day I believe is the closest I have gotten to the model. Already, it is outdated with more improvement. Not Blake, but getting closer to who I want to be. Thanks
