I hate to ruin a good thing here, GolfDigest online, but LPGA hopeful Paige Spirinac’s swing is nothing like what you have her saying in her piece on how to get a better pivot.
We can revisit the posting in which I decried the torso-twisting excercise she describes, while sitting in a chair in her GolfDigest article “Home Hacks.”
So the goal is to turn your shoulders as far as you can without moving your hips.
And then start the down swing while your hips move first, and then your shoulders.
Now, if you’ll forgive the title of the next clip and just skip to 0:15 seconds where you see a swing, you tell me if her hips are pivoting or not.
Paige Spirinac Swings Those Hips
In fact, if you watch the rest of the clip, just keep your eyes on her hips, and find me one swing where she doesn’t turn them a good deal on the back swing pivot.
Not to mention, this is a deliberate hip turn – no attempt to restrict them other than on the swing in the burgundy outfit where she nearly whiffs…and small wonder… see that left-bias setup? Yikes…
The reverse shift of those hips and the sitting-down back swing – that planted heel, of course.
But don’t tell me Paige Spirinac is doing anything remotely close to what she is telling others to do in that GolfDigest piece – if she did, she’d be right where Tiger Woods is right now…
And so will you be, if you take her advice…
