I’m certainly not the one who’s going to let all of the Modern Golf Swing guys either slink into ignominious anonymity or jump onto the Classic Golf Swing bandwagon as if they were always on board.
I have a long memory, and I remember the lonely struggle of trying to stop people from swinging in the modern style, and the hubris of swing coaches like Sean Foley when they first hit the scene.
Bear in mind that around the time everyone was going ga-ga over the latest modern swing craze (anyone remember “myelin?”), I and other classic swing proponents were saying the same thing we’re saying now, only back then, we were considered crackpots.
Here’s a clip, in fact, from my 2012 “MCS 2.0” video, but you’ll note that I shot this video beginning in 2011, October and November – and I can’t believe I shot that video in the dead of winter in Canada.
DJ Talks About the “Floating Heel” and “Full-Body Pivot” 2011
I was saying in 2011 that Tiger Woods was not going to prosper with the swing model he got from Foley, and I eventually got around to calling it the “back-breaker,” long before that actually occurred.
I repeated to BT today my opinion, which is nothing new – Tiger Woods may well go down as the biggest dupe in sports history, being taken in by what he chased for five years to end with a broken back.
So, when the Modern Swing guys suddenly start talking about “classic” golf swings and not planting the leading heel on the back swing, and using the entire body to pivot…
… ask them what they were saying in 2011, and what they were charging for their videos and golf lessons, and ask them if they’ll be offering any refunds for pushing such ridiculous pap upon an unsuspecting and trusting public.
I doubt you’ll receive much of an answer.
And if the answer is “we know things now that we didn’t know then, because of technology,” you can point them to what DJ was saying in 2011 and before that.
And ask them what technology I had access to, a self-funded swing researcher blogging out of his apartment, that they with their million-dollar machines and facilities didn’t have in 2011 and before that.
Quite simply, what they were missing was common sense.
And that’s why you need to support the guy who I first heard talking about the evils of the Modern Golf Swing – one Brandel Chamblee, who’s book on the Classic Golf Swing principles will expose all of the modern swing fallacies quite emphatically.
Brandel isn’t very pleased with the snake-oil salesmen either, and I have finally found someone behind whom I can rally the MCS readers and followers to support his book and cause.
Returning golf swing to the Classic Golf Swing basics and out of the clutches of guys who would be thrown out of any other sports facility trying to push Modern Golf Swing junk to pros or amateurs.
And that can only be good for a sport that is struggling to attract the young and keep the older players in the game…
