How To “Perfect Pivot” Your Golf Swing (Video)

pivot topThe proof is visible to any who care to look – my personal golf swing with the Ben Hogan-inspired “Perfect Pivot” action, just keeps getting better and better, every time I swing.

There is a limit to improvement, of course – but the closer you get to the “perfect” theoretical model of any action, the better it will be, by definition.

And having taken over six weeks since my return from Southern California, not to think over the MCS swing model (which hasn’t changed since I developed it 18 months ago, I just get better at performing the swing, closer and closer to the model) in order to make personal adjustments for my physical deformity, I am becoming ever more pleased with my swing mechanics.

Unless you are perfect, my friends -there is always room for improvement, if you can spot the areas in need.

They will almost invariably include making adjustments to your address position, and perhaps sometimes also your mechanical action.

I have never swung better, technically, than I did yesterday when I went to the Dome to test out my adjustments.

I might also add that this session followed two weeks of no swinging, and came 48 hours after I found myself flat on my back for the day with a stomach bug.

It’s all about technique… not muscle strength…

DJ Swings Driver – “Perfect Pivot” Action

—–

For myself, it is simply finding the stance adjustment that allows me to swing freely and naturally (a must for an athlete who is accustomed to reacting athletically and not guiding/steering one’s movements) and still come to impact with a square shoulder position, which is impossible from a standard set-up with my scoliosis.

You may never have a perfect swing, you may never hit a perfect shot, but if you can imitate Ben Hogan’s pivot action – which is another variation of the classic, “floating heel” golf swing – that will be as close to perfect as you can get.

I’ll take it…

I’ll have some down the line video to show after I finish editing.

Wax Members however can head to DJ’s Watering Hole to check out some 5 iron swings from a clip I’ve made for you to view.

outstanding deej the more still you get the more effortless speed you generate

at least thats the impression comparing the last swings

    video!

Thank you, DB – but you’re essentially correct in your observation. Just as your vehicle becomes unstable beyond a certain speed, the rotation point makes a swing unstable with movement.

Keep that rotation point stable, and you can really ramp it up, with seemingly little effort! 🙂

Outstanding! DJ, I downloaded your B Hogan Project last week and saw instant improvement on my pivot. But like you, I want to pivot like Hogan an not swing exactly like the master. I cannot wait for this next release. Keep it coming!

Got your email, thanks for the kind words, Henny. Love the handle, you must have read Curt Sampson’s biography! 😉

Sorry B – I haven’t worked with anyone that young.

You’d be better suited teaching a kid that young a good grip and solid stance and let them have at it.

Once they’ve gained some degree of swinging proficiency, you could then begin to MCS-ize them where they need it.

But the idea of trying to start off anyone with MCS principles from nothing – that’s kind of like teaching multiplication before addition.

      People, copy DJ’s pivot!!!!

      Correction – it’s Hogan’s pivot!

And yes, you most definitely want to copy him on the pivot. That was the foundation of his swing.
